Buxus

We are planting the front bay window of our Victorian house. Buxus around the front is a definite. We would like ideas for planting to sit at the back of it. Ideas please?

Hi Jayne will the buxus been in pots or a border? Are they shaped buxus?

What aspect is the front of your house?

  • Its in a front boarder, around a bay window. Planted directly into the ground. The buxus will be shaped. This position gets sun until around 1.00 pm. jayne

If the buxus will be shaped nice and formed, how about a loose plant that will flow out around it like nepeta?

Those are lovely, but sun for only half the day may cause nepeta to get lanky. Geranium 'Rozanne' could be an alternative for the 'fluffy blue contrast' look, it goes on and on until early autumn. Bulbs, blue aquilegias and ferns could give interest a little earlier in the year.

  • I really like Alliums. We had aquilegias in the garden at our old property. I would like something different. Looked at Agapanthus too. What do you think?
