Black marks on Buddleja leaves

Bright starBright star Posts: 1,152

I bought and planted a buddleja buzz indigo about 2 weeks ago. Today I noticed that some of the leaves have black marks on them. I can't see any pests on the plant so I'm wondering if it could be a fungal problem and if it is will I be able to use a regular fungicide spray to treat it, many thanks.

I'd pull the affected leaves off and throw them in the bin (not on the compost).  Sorry I can't help with what it is but this is what I do with anything that makes me uncomfortable.

It might be scorch, if the plant was watered when the sun was shining on it.  But Cloggie's method will work whatever the problem is!  I wouldn't use a fungicide spray, personally - they seem to be having a bad effect on bees.

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

If you feed the soil (with organic matter) and keep the plant healthy, it'll probably grow out of it if it is "a thing".
