Poop ID please ( if it is poop )

ShepsSheps West YorkshirePosts: 1,315

Morning everyone....I keep finding these small black presents on my lawn, at first I thought some of them were a kind of slime mould due to it looking very wet and spread out, but there are some ( like in the pictures ) that look more like poop, so I was wondering what animal ( if it is ) would be dropping them.

Thanks Hosta...looking at the 3rd image I thought there maybe some beetle wing casings, but wasn't sure, I'll dry one out and open it up to see what's inside.

Hi Lb... I hope it is, would love to have them in the garden on a regular basis.

It looks like my hedgehog's poo and they are insectivorous so the beetle wing cases make sense. image
