Spanish Bluebells

I'm over run with Spanish Bluebells.

We purchased the house 2 years ago and the previous owners let the bluebells seed down across the whole garden over the 20+ years they lived here.

Where possible I've dug them out but they've seeded amongst dry stone walls, tree roots etc.  These areas are almost impossible clear as the stems just snap and leave the bulb behind ready for next year.

Can anybody recommend a suitable weed killer that I can treat the problem areas with and the best time of year to apply it

Thanks

I DON'T GO FOR WEEDKILLERS MYSELF BUT BEAR IN MIND THAT ANYTHING NEAR A SPANISH BLUEBELL WILL BE HIT BY THE SPRAY AND POISONED TOO.

I HAVE BEEN DIGGING THEM OUT FOR NINE YEARS AND HAVE A WAY TO GO. IT'S GOOD FOR THE SOUL.

Apophthegm -  a big word for a small thought.
If you live in Derbyshire, as I do.

Have a read of this: https://www.rhs.org.uk/advice/profile?PID=426 . No garden weedkiller will touch them so you're stuck with digging them out.

  • For the last few years I have been just pulling the leaves off close to ground as soon as they show and appear to be winning.
