Anaerobic respiration
I am a teacher at a secondary school. My class and I are aware that a fungus such as yeast can be made to carry out anaerobic respiration and produce ethanol. However we were wondering if plants, when carrying out anaerobic respiration will also produce ethanol or are they like humans that produce lactic acid under these conditions.
In addition we are having trouble trying to think of a situation when a plant may be required to carry out anaerobic respiration.
We thank you in advance for your response.

"it occurs in the roots of some water-logged plants, "
Google is your friend!
That was timed perfectly for the end of our class Al! The class was in raptures when your reply came in.
Thank you
