wild west themed garden on a budget

hi

am hoping someone with knowledge of gardening can help a novice create a themed one on a budget.

Already had lot of ideas like using a broken ladder to put plants on and trying to grow chillis, tomatoes in the soil.

Any ideas on the sorts of right things that would grow in surrey much appreciated?

What a cool idea for a theme. Yucca gloriosa is a bit wild-westy. How about gravel with a few rocks, some yuccas and tufts of ornamental grasses - Festuca glauca, Stipa gigantea? Sun loving silvery leaved shrubs like Santolina might look the part too.

  • thanks for that, am thinking Corn and Chilli will go well with the theme

Someone else's post reminded me, how about Californian poppies?

  • hmmm, maybe ... decor and furniture also needs to be looked at

I saw a cute Western item the other day on a gardening forum.  They had taken an old wooden wagon wheel acquired from a family member on a farm, laid it on its side and planted small bedding plants between the wheel spokes.  It was REAL cute, too.  Seems like they had used allysum, lithadora blue and those are the only two plants I can remember.  :)  You can take two cheap; horseshoes and point them together and do the same thing on the ground, planting in the two sides.  also saw plants planted in old, worn out/outgrown  children's cowboy boots that were adorable.  :)
