Birds and cherry tree
Hi All
Hoping you can help and would really appreciated any good tips that have worked , to keep the birds off my cherrys, last year we managed to get one cherry from a few hundred on the tree. The birds seem to eat them while still green.
We have quite a big cherry tree and hopefully a good crop again this year, but would be good to actually have a few to enjoy.
Many thanks for reading this.

Nope, I haven't solved that one yet.
I call it wildlife gardening and let them get on with it.
One year the birds didn't seem hungry, or better pickings elsewhere, and we were giving them away.
We usually get a few for us but the trees are quite big and produce plenty. Only 'wild' cherry but big and juicy

I have dwarf cherry trees so am able to net them but for a large tree I think one realistic option would be a bird scarer, such as a fake hawk placed somewhere high in the tree or close by. You would only need it up for a few weeks each year (they would probably get used to it if left up all the time) so you wouldn't scare birds away for the rest of the time.
Google "decoy bird of prey" for examples.
Thank you for your replies, will give the decoy birds of prey a go, fingers crossed for a few cherrys this year. Thank you again
