FIRST, DIG A HOLE THAT IS ABOUT TWO FEET WIDE AND AS MUCH DEEP. THROW IN LOTS AND LOTS OF WELL ROTTED MANURE. MIX IT UP WITH THE SURROUNDING EARTH. PLANT YOUR RHUBARB SO THAT THE "CROWN" IS JUST ABOVE THE FINISHED LEVEL OF THE SOIL. FILL IN THE HOLE. KEEP IT WELL WATERED ESPECIALLY IN DRY WEATHER.

YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO PICK ONE OR TWO STALKS IN 2019 AND MORE IN LATER YEARS.

I think you should be able to pick one or two stalks next year but otherwise agree with Pansy's advice.

If you want to force your rhubarb to get the early pink stems I suggest you get a second plant and then you can blanch them in alternate years as they need to be left to rest and recover after forcing.  Don't pick stems after mid July in any case as by then the oxalic acid levels are higher and the plant need to be allowed to build up energy for a good crop of shoots the following spring.
