Plant identification and pruning

Hi, good morning. 

We have this plant in our bathroom. We got it about 5 years ago so I don't have any labels for plant. What iis it? IImportantly I want to prune it to reduce some height and some leaves, is it possible or will I kill this plant off? I am attaching a picture which I hope shows up.
