Veg plot interloper ID

GuybrushGuybrush Posts: 172

Morning everybody!

I've just been getting my veg plot ready for the year ahead and have found an interloper happily growing there. Can anyone ID him for me?

Cheers

James

Hi Guybrush. It looks like Achillea millefolium or Yarrow to me.

  • Don't think it's fine enough for achillea. Do the leaves smell? Celery-ish?  If not, look at ragwort, because although, normally, the stems aren't dark, it sometimes does grow like that and the leaf shape is right.  If it smells fresh celery/carrot smell, let us know.

Thanks for the replies. :-) I crushed a leaf and it just smells of cut grass. Not carroty really.

    cheers

  • Then I think it's one of the ragworts. If you let it flower (yellow daisy), just to be sure, don't let it seed about.
