Spanish/French lavender

 Oh dear.

I thought I was being kind to my container growing Spanish lavender by over wintering it in a sheltered spot by a fence and leaving it untrimmed for protection. It's now got a few spindly growths emerging from the rather bedraggled top so, do I go for it and cut it back by half as the online gardening sites say or just give up on it as I should have done my pruning last August?

many thanks.

Thank you Verdun - that's reassured me! image

The poor thing is a bit mixed; some fresh growth and a lot of dry, frazzled stems which I guess are frost/cold wind damaged.
