    It is a Violet.

He calls her the chocolate girl
Cause he thinks she melts when he touches her
She knows she's the chocolate girl
Cause she's broken up and swallowed
And wrapped in bits of silver
  • They spread fairly easily, we have patches of violets growing in our lawn - which I love to see.

Same here aym, they tangle around other plants, they completely choked a delphinium and the roots do go extremely deep.

Not something I would want to knowingly plant.

Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.

  • We had a friend who grew violets for the London markets.  He and his wife would be bent over double picking these tiny flowers, bunching them (so fiddly) and then exporting to London. They didn't get rich - was it worth the effort, I don't know.
