Composting Cardboard

How do you prepare cardboard for composting? We don't have a garden shredder, so just looking for ideas.

Ha, I like the weed suppression idea! I usually hoard cardboard due to not having much browns, but having just done the annual clearout I have a good pile now. They're mostly amazon boxes so I'll set aside some time to chop them up.

Leave them out to get wet first. They'll tear easier!

I just tear into pieces about 10 inches around.  They seem to compost fine.    I tend to keep boxes in the mostly ready composter so they get damp and then when I have grass clippings, I tear up the boxes and use it as a layer between grass clippings in the on-going composter.  I try to get the tape off.  Actually Amazon boxes are good because they use paper tape.  Also like the brown paper they are using to fill inside.
