Tree I.D please

Hi all,I've just moved into a new house and this tree is in the garden,please could you tell me what it is?

    Hi Bob. It will be a great deal easier to identify once its leaves open so if you wait until that happens and post another picture showing a close up of the leaves we will see if we can identify it for you.

    Looks like a magnolia to me. Has it got two sizes of bud, furry?

    Hi all,I forgot to mention it has a strong lime smell when you snip a twig off

    Thats not helping me pb but someone else may know. Lime trees do smell of lime but your tree does not look like a lime.

    From the leaf buds I'd agree on it being a magnolia.
