last yera i bought a pack of pictorial meadows wildflower seed (we visit frequently, esp in summer, great day out for kids)  our soil is clay and we don't have anywhere really sunny enough for them, except near the front door in a large pot, would this work? when best to sow, do I need to put them in the fridge for a bit, and what potting mix should I use ( this is my 5 year olddaughter's project, she'll be so happy  if she can grow a mini meadow!)

When to sow depends on exactly what seeds they are.

    Now would probably be ok.

    A pot would be fine.

MPC would be ok and they don't need much in the way of feeding, during whole season.

Good luck, might start your daughter on the path to a life time love of gardening.

  • Hi rosemummy, I grew some wild flowers from seed in pots last year. They were quite successful and lasted all through the summer, some coming up in different stages. Well worth doing you will love the results. I plan to do some more in March. Will happily share the photos when they materialise.
