Can I grow a Clematis armandii ?

Good morning,

I have a raised trellis at the back of a border measuring 3ft high by 9ft wide.  I am looking for something hopefully evergreen,  and the Clematis armandii has caught my eye.  The trouble is,  I have looked at its expected growth and its much bigger than the trellis! Is there a way around this? Can it be tied to grow over the other side of the trellis rather than upright? Failing this,  any alternative suggestions would be appreciated.  Thank you all ☺

Is the trellis attached to a wall or fence? I'm not sure what you mean by raised trellis, but maybe I'm just dim!

As Rhod says though - they get big, so if you can't accomodate it well, it's best to look for something else. It also depends what you have growing next to and around it.
