Sucker or not?
I noticed today two of my harlow carr roses now seem to have 3 stems coming out of the ground instead of 1 that the others have. Will these be suckers?
I have noticed that on the same stem there are some that have 5 leaves and some that have 7. I know that suckers have 7 leaves but can't understand why the same stem would have 5 &7 leaves. Any advice? Thank you.

ignore the " suckers have X leaves and proper roses have Y leaves" I've seen roses produce both leaves on the same plant , at the same time.
The reason we plant roses deep is so they produce stems below soil level and then their own roots.
They look fine to me. Just keep an eye on them as they start to grow.
I think it is all the same rose as the thorns look all the same. On a sucker they look more like a dog rose.
No, not suckers. So I agree with Fritillary. You could do with removing some dead wood on those along with the old black spotted leaves..
fantastic news, thank you so much for your prompt advice. Will cut them back and clear dead wood etc now I know not to take the whole lot out.
