Creating a screen to make garden more private from view of the neighbour's

Hello All,

Only recently moved into our new home, with it being a new build the garden is bare and needs a lot of work, but initially to start with I am wanting to try and add a bit more privacy to the back garden for by the time summer comes round.

We have an area along the back fence where the neighbour's balcony is on view and I would like to try screen this from our view, my initial thought was bamboo (but I'm worried that it will spread!), however I feel like they would be a better solution by using a tree which is nice and full above the top of the fence to block the majority of the balcony out.

So the reason I am on this forum is to ask what do you think would be the best tree/plant to put in?, I ideally would prefer something evergreen and I was thinking perhaps about 10ft tall (the fence height is 6ft).

My plan is to eventually plant numerous trees and shrubs along the back fence, but to start with I want to screen off the balcony area.

I'm looking forward to any recommendations you might have, I am quite the novice, so any help would be great!

Thanks for your time

FOR SPEED OF GROWTH, CHEAPNESS, EVERGREENNESS, DENSITY, LACK OF FUSSINESS, GROW ANYWHERE RELIABILTY I WOULD SAY BUY ONE LAUREL BUSH.

BORING AS A WET MONDAY BUT THEY DO THE JOB.

Apophthegm -  a big word for a small thought.
If you live in Derbyshire, as I do.

Agree with Pansy, a Laurel is ideal for your requirements.
