    I'm thinking a Clematis montana

  • Thankyou @fidgetbones!!

Looked up on google images and that is it! Now I can work out how to care for it ?

Prune immediately after flowering, cutting off flowered shoots and any in places you don't want. Tie in any new shoots through the summer, to flower again next spring.  I have it rambling through an old hawthorn.

  • Thankyou! Since I missed pruning after it flowered last year should I now leave it until it flowers again, or should I cut the dead leaves off now ready for spring? Thanks again for you help and advice ??

Leave it as it is for now - when it is flowering post a photo on here and we'll be able to advise you re pruning.
