I was given an orchid ( the kind with leaves like tongues).

It is heading towards the end of its flowering period.

I know that I should take the clear pot out of the ceramic pot, but where should I put it? The nearest thing I have to a greenhouse is a south-facing porch or should I keep it in the house somewhere?

In London. Keen but lazy.

  • I've had mine for 3yrs now and like yours mine is nearing the end of its current blooming period. I just trim it back ( about a quarter) and move it into the kitchen where it's a bit cooler than the lounge. I then use an orchid mist on it for a couple of months and as soon as the new buds form it gets move back to a warmer spot again and this seems to encourage it to flower again. Last yr mine flowered April to end of June and again mid Oct until now. I've also kept the clear pot inside the ceramic one with no ill effects.
