I ENJOYED LISTENING TO HIM IN THE MORNINGS THAT HE WAS ON. HE USUALLY BROUGHT A  SMILE TO MY FACE.

    Same feelings from me.  image

He always came over as a very warm and caring person, whether you were a believer in anything or not. That in itself made you feel cherished.  RIP Rabbi Blue.

Yes, one of life's good ones ...... I shall miss hearing his voice.

  • He really did come over as a very nice man, although I only ever heard him on Terry's show in the mornings.  I am sure they will meet up again and share a joke or three.

He did Thought for the Day for years on R4 - a wise and humane man who always found the positive - we need people like him so much now.

A joke from one of his thought for the day pieces.

A jewish lady walking home at night

A man jumps out of the hedge, opens his coat wide and flashes at her.

" Call that a lining" she says.

On yet another day from hell, it raised a smile here.

Did they tear it out with talons of steel
And give you a shot, so that you wouldn't feel?
And washed it away as if it wasn't real?
  • There is going to be a programme on radio 4 today, his obituary, which apparently Lionel wrote himself. - .9.30 tonight

I saw him being interviewed on TV a couple of times.  He came across as a person who didn't take himself too seriously, which made a pleasant change for a religious leader.  He was certainly amusing to listen to.
