Any time, but probably best when they're in flower (unless you're sure of your supplier), to ensure you get what you want, colourwise. Callunas are very specific with regard to their soil requirements, i.e. acid conditions, so make sure your ground is right for them, or grow them in pots in ericaceous compost plus an annual leaf mold mulch.
