As kids, (in New Zealand), we used to pull the flowers out of the calyx and suck the nectar out of the bottom. I still try it now when I find a plant in flower. G. rosmarinifolia is the one your sister has, I think. H-C
Gosh H-C. You just took me back to childhood too. My brothers sister and I used to hunt out dead nettles here to suck the nectar out of their flowers whilst out in the countryside.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
Oops, here we go, memories! Ladybird, look under the flowers of deadnettles where you'll find the two tiny pairs of pixie shoes (anthers) hidden. That's where they put them after the centipede kept stealing them from under the leaves of daisies. Fooled him by hiding them in a plant that looked like a stinging nettle.
