Mature bay tree

B3B3 Posts: 25,218

With the leaves dropped from surrounding plants, I can see exactly where my bay needs pruning to get it back into shape.

This will involve removing a reasonably large chunk but the main(thick) branches will not be involved.

Can I do it now or should I wait until spring?

In London. Keen but lazy.

  • I would do it mid to late spring, but before any birds have built nests in it. You'll have to keep an eye on it.

@s for putting nests in stupid places - low enough for the local cats to stroll in and help themselves.

  • Some of them aren't the brightest of birds are they?  But then they're not as daft as Collared doves - they really do choose some daft places to nest image
