Mature bay tree
With the leaves dropped from surrounding plants, I can see exactly where my bay needs pruning to get it back into shape.
This will involve removing a reasonably large chunk but the main(thick) branches will not be involved.
Can I do it now or should I wait until spring?
In London. Keen but lazy.

I would do it mid to late spring, but before any birds have built nests in it. You'll have to keep an eye on it.

@s for putting nests in stupid places - low enough for the local cats to stroll in and help themselves.
Some of them aren't the brightest of birds are they? But then they're not as daft as Collared doves - they really do choose some daft places to nest
