Hi All,
I am new here and need to find out what the long leaved grass type plant in the center of this photo.
The plant is getting a bit big and I need to prune it down before it takes over the garden. I have managed to prune the green/white bush.
I have little gardening experience so don't want to kill the plant

Phormium tenax cultivar, New Zealander, ugly bloomin' things, but others may disagree! The only one I'll consider using is the cultivar 'Yellow Wave'. It will look awful cut/pruned, it just won't work because the leaves all sprout from the base. To reduce it, you'd have to remove clumps/offsets at the base, but that won't alter the height

They are beasts to prune! You have to get under and cut leaves at the base, as H-C described.
It looks good against the fence - you seem to have room for it.
Imasleepdontbotherme,welcome. why do you want to prune it? You've got a lot of space there.
