Marigolds

I sewed some marigolds seeds early autumn, growing well in my unheated greenhouse. The problem is, some have already got flower buds so should I remove them and keep doing so until I can plant them out next spring.

  • Are these Tagetes or Calendula?

  • Think they are Tagates. Grew them from seeds of this year's which, in the main are still in flower in my front garden

  • Tagetes are usually half hardy annuals. I would pinch them out now to encourage sticky bushy plants and keep them in a frost free greenhouse over the winter.

  • Many thanks

  • I have kept plenty of marigolds seeds to sow in the spring, but we moved in May and its the first time I've had a greenhouse so I think  was just a bit over enthusiastic to see if I could start them off early !! Many thanks for your reply and advice.
