Depends on the winter we get. I am at 1200 ft, up in the Pennines and have left one outside in a pot for the last 3 years and it is still going. I wasn't bothered about it though, which might have made a differenceItmight get cut down to ground level but will probably come back. I have another which I grew from a cutting which I did put inside. Cuttings are easy, why not take some as insurance?

Mine has survived out side for three years in well drained soil on a slope. Soggy roots are the killers for salvias.
thanks for the comments, I will keep fingers crossed that it survives the winter.
I never protect mine in Hertfordshire and it's still in full flower now!
