Queen Wasps?

Hello
We have discovered 7 large wasps in the house over the last week randomly on different days, usually late afternoon. Their appearance coincided with a log delivery so the general consensus is that they are Queens looking for a place to hibernate. I would expect an odd one at this time of year but 7 in a week so far seems a lot of Queens. Are they that numerous?
Length is around the size of a 50p, just under, so fairly large.
Thank you

If there was a nest nearby, they may have produced a lot of queens, who will now need to hibernate, then emerge next spring to form their own colony.
Thanks for your quick reply. There was a nest about 50 yards up the lane in a hedgerow bank which cause a bit of havoc when passing, but we didn't have any problems with them then.
maybe they were the dreaded asian hornets? my brother lives in east sussex and has three on his property lately
