cardoon
i have a cardoon which had lovely silver furry leaves when i bought it (which is why i bought it) as it grew bigger throught the summer the leaves turned more green and it no longer was furry, it flowered this year and died back now it has had a second flourish and is growing really well in the same year but again the leaves even the new ones are green and non furry, why is this and what is lacking or happening to it, it is in gritty compost with some added coir and probably has some manure mixed in with it too it's in a good sized pot

Some grey/silver leaved plants go more green in shade and when grown too wet and well fed.

thanks nut, it is in the sun so the soil must be too rich for it. i've improved the soil so much in the garden i haven't got any rubbish soil left, what would you suggest i replant it in, soil wise?
I've got plenty of rubbish soil you can have. Swap?
Repot and leave out the manure maybe. My cardoons are only ornamental, in very rough soil and were very silver until they went brown. They're in quite a bit of shade and at their most silver early in the year.
