What to do with Canna bulbs?

A neighbour of mine has been thinning out her Cannas in her front garden. I've always been envious of them as they always look so healthy despite the, being behind a wall in a north facing garden. Anyway she's given me a load of bulbs for free  along with a couple of plants. Can anyone tell me if I should plant them in the ground now or wait until the frosts have passed.

Pot them up, store somewhere cool, but not too cold, and then bring into the warmth and start watering next Spring. They should not be planted out, until after the last frosts.
