Help identify

imageimagemy cousin in Toronto Canada sent me these photos to see if I could identify this shrub she saw at a garden she recently visited, Ive no idea what it is, just wondered if anyone on here could help

    The flowers look pea like, so I think it may be one of the lathyrus family. There is a shrubbier spring flowering one, but I'm not familiar with it. Someone here will know though image

    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....



    I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

    The pictures are a little blurred when enlarged but it looks very much like a member of the Broom (Cytisus) family, possibly either Boskop Ruby or Windlesham Ruby.

  • It's lespedeza thunbergii, "Bush clover". Stems will make 7ft or more in the right spot. Lax habit, so give it room with some support or let it hang over a wall edge. I use it a lot when the conditions suit. Sunny spot, good drainage.  Surprisingly hardy. Grows from the base each year,so a spring prune down to the floor.
