Identify my trees

imageimageimageimage Hi, I have moved in to a new build house and am wondering what trees I have. There are 3 which were planted in April this year by the builders, 2 of which are the same. Does anyone recognise what they are? My plan is to make them grow outwards more, as opposed to height. Any help is much appreciated. Alex

  • The top one is a Pear I suspect and the other two look like Alder.

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
  • Not sure about Alder now I've zoomed in a bit.

No 2 looks like hornbeam. Carpinus betulus.

    Devon.
  • Thanks for the replies. Hornbeam looks like the middle tree we have. The other two which are the same, has some small white flowers growing on it near the top.

  • It's pyrus calleryana 'Chanticleer', but any flower is out of season. It'll flower quite early, March to April. Autumn colour is rich golds and pale orange.
