First one looks like a snapdragon.
The second pic is gaillardia.
Agree with both

Many thanks, I remember sowing gaillardia, but god alone knows where the snapdragon has come from, a little birdy bonus I guess.
I had some pop up this year in my Wilderness border behind the pond - goodness knows where they came from, and they didn't really look right there, but I didn't have they heart to pull them up until they'd gone over
