Hi,
Just wondering if anyone could help me with some plant ID's again, came across these two and haven't been able to identify them myself, unfortunately didn't get very good pictures, the second one has really interesting flowers which appeared to hang down.
Thanks

Well the first is a salvia although which one is another matter. Hopefully someone will ID the shrub for you.
Hi EmmaLily,
Dave's right, it's a Salvia, I suspect it may be culinary sage, Salvia officinalis. Although as every sage dies a horrible death in my wet heavy clay, I have not that much experience with them.
It is hard to tell from your second photo--it would be great if you could post a photo of the flower heads that can just be glimpsed. My guess would be this is a Deutzia, though out of flower, the variety cannot be identified.
Looks like a hydrangea to me. The salvia is one of the salvia nemorosa cultivars, I suspect, but this end of the year the flowers tend not to be as vibrant as the first flush so can be misleading.

I have a tiny screen at home! Now at work and I have spotted one floret at the top of the photo, which confirms that it is a hydrangea--looks like a lacecap.
Thanks all for the help
