Potatoes in grow bags

Limited for space, I've gown a range of potatoes in growing bags on my patio this year.  I'm quite pleased with the results!

I grew them in a peat free free compost made by New Horizon. Good results but to grow any quantity in bags, quite expensive!

Can I 'recycle' this compost for next year and use it again for my spuds or does anyone know of a cheaper alternative?  Maybe just soil from my garden, if I can 'borrow' enough from my vegetable patch.

Any ideas?

Dont reuse compost that has had potatoes in for any of the potato family, including tomatoes, as it will spread disease.  If growing in soil in the garden, practise a three year rotation.

    fidgitbones,

Thanks for the reply.  I only have space for my potatoes in bags on the patio.  I'm going to do them again as they were very good.  I did a 1st and 2nd early and a main crop.

Any ideas for an economic growing medium for my bags?

Potatoes need plenty of nutrients. If you mix in fertiliser with   cheap grow bags they will grow well.
