slugs versus Dahlias

Did well all summer considering what an awful year it has been for slugs and snails. Good year from their point of view I guess.However... I took my eye off the ball and now have a load of bare stalks. Should I dig them up now to store for winter, or leave them as normal til first frosts?

Thanks Verdun.I'll take your advice and get busy now
My Dahlias were not great this year,slugs apart. They flowered late and quite poorly. They were only half as high as last year too. I have fed them blood,fish and bone, and the most recent application seems to have promoted some shoots on the slug damaged ones.Disappointingly my Blue Byou corm, though still firm has never made shoots at all this year.
