Wisteria advice

My mum bought a Wisteria (9cm pot) and then gave it to me. She'd bought it from a supermarket for £4.

Since I didn't know much about Wisteria, I had a read about them online and found the best ones to buy are those grafted. I checked the plant and it's not a graft. So I contacted the supermarket to clarify and they replied it's from a cutting, so not grown from seed and not a graft.

Any information, experience or advice with Wisteria plants grown from cuttings. I read that those from seed may not flower for 20 years and those on grafts are more reliable, so should I expect one that's from a cutting to be in between?

Any experience from people buying Wisteria bought from Supermarkets?

Many Thanks for reading

  • any advice? I'm not sure if it's worth putting any effort into keeping it, and therefore chucking it out if it won't flower for many many years.

I grew 3 from seed. Mine died image My friend's did really well and flowered after about 4 years then they moved house. My daughter's flowered after 6 years, now it's huge and they've just moved house.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
