transplanting

Hi got this fabulous astilbe currently in flower but it's in the wrong place and I want to move it now. I'm worried that I might damage/ kill it by transplanting when it's in flower. Is it ok will move it while its in flower.

Thanks,

novice gardener

Astilbe is a plant that likes to have it's feet in damp soil - I would hesitate to move it while it's in flower as the roots would struggle to support flowers while they were settling down after being transplanted  - I think I'd wait until early autumn when the flowering is over. image

  • Thanks, it's looking so fab that I wanted it in the right place now as it's in a hidden part of the garden but I'm learning that a lot of gardening is about patienceimage

If you've learned that you've learned a lot image

It's the hardest thing to achieve when you garden! image
