What to plant around Dicentra Spectabilis

We have some lovely Dicentra Spectabilis which reappear and flower reliably every year but then fade and whither away. I would appreciate ideas for perennials to plant around and under them to keep that area looking nice once the Dicentra have done their thing. Something flowering now (late September) would be a real treat. It's not a very bright corner and there is no light once the Dicentra start coming up. With many thanks.

Heucheras, grasses like Hackenochloa or Bowles Golden Grass, Gaultherias, ferns, Japanese anemones, Potentillas if you have space. I grow the white one near my white Dicentra. Hydrangeas will do the same - again I have a white one behind the dicentra.

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • Thank you both. I love Japanese anemones, and the Rudbeckia definitely appeals. We have had honey fungus which did for the hydrangeas we had in the garden before, so will not give those another try. I need to look up the other suggestions and have a think.
