Planting Alliums

I have just received 100 allium bulbs which I intend to put in pots and one of my borders but was wondering whether they could be planted in the lawn along with the daffs and tulips?

I personally wouldn't. They look hideous before they flower as the foliage starts dying back. They're best suited to a border among other planting, which gives them support and hides the foliage. It depends on the variety too - but many of them are very big.

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • Thanks for the advice.  I have put the Alliums in pots and the border and in some pots with some daffs and tulips.
