What Is This Plant?
Hi all,
I wonder if you can help identifying the plant in the attached pictures (I have taken a photo of it and it's trunk)?
My dad is about to throw it away, I was going to adopt it but the place i would put it is fairly near my house, does this plant have a root system that would be an issue?
Thanks

it's a cordyline, they grow a deep tap root when in the ground and some fibrous roots too, when we dug up our 18ft on i guess the roots went out about 18inches each side but it's the tap root which keeps it upright, they do grow a quite quickly so bear in mind windows it may grow past and block out light of a bedroom window etc, how close to the house are you thinking?
I would keep it in a container - they make good container plants - lots of info here

Hope that helps

Thanks both, probably best to keep it in a container then to limit it
