Hi. I have a field maple in my garden that is getting out of hand and needs crown reducing. When is the best time of year to do this?
Thanks.
K.
Hi kp. Late Autumn to winter is the recommended time to prune Field Maple.
I cut mine anytime when the leaves are off.
Don't remove more than 30% of the branches, otherwise you'll stimulate lots of new growth, which is not what you want.
