AlxNicAlxNic Posts: 259

I am just back from my travels and found this anenome growing in lots of places. I would like to get a plant but not sure of the name. They seem to grow quite high

Can anyone give me a lead for the name to look for?

Thanks

  • Looks a lot like Queen Charlotte to me, somebody will know for sure in a while.

Queen Charlotte is probably the most common pink one, but I thinkit's a double.Lady Gilmour is another pink which is readily available.

You'll find plenty in Garden Centres just now though  image

  • It's commonly known as Japanese anemone.  The one in your picture looks like Anemone hupehensis 'Bowles's Pink' .

I grow one with slightly more petals (and I think it's a little taller) called Anemone x hybrida 'September Charm'.

    They're hardy in the UK.

Thank you all for the names. Now that I have names I can do some searching.

They always looked so lovely wherever i saw them, I just needed to get some for myself

  • There are some lovely white ones too - Verdun grows White Swan and Ruffled Swan, which have shades of blue on the reverse of the petals.

I only grow the whites. I have Whirlwind which is a semi double. I'm very fond of it imageimage

Wish they would die on us. Been pouring weed killer on these thugs for the last 20 years and still they come up and kill everything else in their path. Be wartned
