Snake bark maple
I'm looking for a tree to add some height and interest between our garden and that of our neighbour. I want a tree that's fairly upright and won't cast a huge shadow on their garden.
The Snake bark maple Acer capillipes seems to fit the bill. Does anybody have experience of it?

Know it well and there are few acers comparable when it comes to autumn colour. Of course, the bark effect is striking against the right background. Avoid too shallow a soil over chalk or sites where waterlogging is a problem.

Thanks H-c.
We are on good draining land here so waterlogging won't be a problem. In fact the deeds for the house forbid commercial extraction of sand and gravel, which gives an idea of what the ground is like
