cats

Please can someone tell me how to stop my cats from pooping and weeing on my new lawn. It is making parts of the lawn go yellow.

Google "water scarecrow".  Most effective deterrent which is legal and does no harm to the cats or your garden and will keep other unwanted intruders away too.

My suggestion remains unpopular with the cat people, and may even be illegal!!  Make a well know phrase or saying from 'gun' and 'shot'.  Just kidding, but only just.  I stopped them leaving their calling cards in my front lawn by digging it up and replacing it with gravel. image

At least it's not pooping and weeing on someone else's lawn.

Keep them in til they've been emptied into a litter tray is the only answer, they've got to leave it somewhere.

My son's can has never pooped or wee'd on anyone's lawn.  He's a very happy and healthy house cat and doesn't go outside at all.

Oops.  Hadn't spotted they were the OP's cats.  Yes, house training with litter trays or a secluded litter tray spot in the garden.
