English Bluebell Bulbs

RedwingRedwing Posts: 1,396

I would like suggestions of a reliable bulb supplier of English Bluebells, preferably ones that people have personal experience of.  I want only English bluebells and don't want any contamination with the easily hybridised Spanish. My garden is very close to a large woodland colony of English bluebells and I would not want to risk hybridising.  I am prepared to pay a bit more for pure stock.

    I can recommend http://www.broadleighbulbs.co.uk/

I've had very good quality native bulbs from them, delivered promptly and in very good condition.

Dove: unfortunately they do not sell English bluebells.  Any other suggestions?

Because the search box is the smallest one in the world. image

I went looking because I want some English bluebells for a bank that I'm clearing. I want to make sure they're defo the right ones and I always try to go with a recommendation. The price isn't totally out of order either. image I ordered from a well known bulb supplier last year and ended up with three viable bulbs from 50 ordered. image

The search box is useless... it said nothing matched my search.  I want to plant them on a steepish bank under a hedge and do not fancy having to uproot them if they turn out to be Spanish.  I'll be ordering some.

    Udpdate

Well I ordered from Broadleigh Bulbs on these recommendations.  They took over a month to come, arriving today.  They look  good but variable in size, which is a little worrying....just hope they are all English.  I paid an above average, but not huge, price for them but what is concerning is that they came from da Jager in Kent, not Broadleigh in Somerset.....as I said I just hope they are all English Bluebells.

This may be a sort of an explanation http://broadleighbulbs.co.uk/wp/news/
