Pruning buddleia davidii

Dead flower heads on the buddleia are looking scruffy.  As it's a pretty tough plant would I be doing any harm if I cut the flowering stems back at present?

I know to hard prune in spring.

Hi KT53. After flowering I cut my Buddleja back by 2/3rds and then, like you said, they get cut back to 30 cm in Spring and I also remove some of the older, gnarly braches completely in Spring.

I do the same as Ladybird - if I remember  image

I often just prune odd branches  back (at any time) if all the flowers are completely gone from them. It keeps the shrub in shape too.

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
