What is this plant

Hi, does anyone know what this plant is? It self-seeded in a pot, and the leaves were an interesting shape, so I let it grow to see what developed. It's now got pretty purpley-blue flowers. Is it annual or perennial?image It's about 18in high.

    Hi

It looks like Jacob's Ladder - Polemonium caeruleum. It's a perennial and by all accounts self seeds if it's happy.

    I agree.

So do I. Watch it, though, it self seeds so prolifically that it could soon be the only plant in the border!

  • Many thanks for your help. I have a bit of space that needs filling, so I'll plant it out and hope it seeds, though I'll keep an eye on it as well!

I love it. Posy's right about it self seeding, but the seedlings are easy to spot when tiny and remove, or give away.
