Shy cosmos

Hello All,

This is my first year growing cosmos and most of the plants started flowering at least 6 weeks ago... However, there's one plant, which must be 5' tall with loads of very healthy branches, with a stem nearly as thick as my (admittedly rather puny) wrist, that hasn't started to flower yet. Just wondering if that's normal?

I'm concerned that if it doesn't get a wriggle on, the first frost will get it before it puts out a flower!

=)

TOO MUCH FERTILISER. TOO MUCH OF AN EASY LIFE.

    NEXT YEAR TREAT 'EM ROUGH.

Apophthegm -  a big word for a small thought.
If you live in Derbyshire, as I do.

  • Thanks all, I haven't knowingly fertilised it - it's in the border - but I will be sure to not feed them next year!

And me! I've got several VERY large plants with no sign of them flowering. But I have got a couple of weedy ones that have. Very strange...

I'm jealous. One bud on the top of one of my cosmos Christmas trees. Il am looking forward to the 'star' on the top. Magenta and white have done ok. I assume all of the non flowering ones are pink.
