Name that plant?

Hi there,

there was a really beautiful plant this morning in a Council window box. I'd love to grow some in my garden if anyone can tell me what it is? There are a few plants in this picture, but it's the tall bright pink flowered plant on here.

The flower shape suggests a Sage. look up Salvia sp and see what you get on Google.image

Could also be one of the tall lobelias.

Why not email the council - I'm sure they would be delighted to know their handiwork is being admiredimage. Let us know if you get a positive ID.

    Try Salvia Royal Bumble.

Definitely e-mail your local Parks Dept (or whatever they call themselves) as Chicky says we all need some appreciation. It worked for me and I got some really interesting and useful information.

I did it to avoid having the same conversation with my neighbour on the bus ride into town, he maintained the tree lined path was cedar I was sure it was pine. Sent them a picture with my query. Showed him the e-mail response, settled. But because I am not a good person I was a bit too pleased that I was right image

  • You are all amazing!! It is Salvia Royal Bumble!! Thank you Ladybird4 :)

I am going to get in contact with the Council though, they have done an outstanding job this year - especially since the budget was dramatically cut also.

    Thanks again xxx
